–BACKGROUND–
On August 5, 2020, McMillan supporters testified before the District of Columbia Board of Zoning Adjustment in BZA Appeal Case No. 20191. See the record of that appeal here: https://tinyurl.com/dc-bza-appeal-20191
Ardent McMillan supporters persist in asking the city follow its own laws before destroying the site, at the very least for our safety and well being. More strongly, we are asking that any demolition of the historic site be permanently stopped. We are before the BZA to argue the zoning laws are being ignored.
— HEARING INFO–

DC has very few green space left. Why take our green space and take away the pleasure of a most environmentally needed park. The city is being robbed of a space for families to enjoy, a walk in the park, a family gathering, gaining oxygen and fresh air. This development spans over 35 years when it was envisioned as a industry where water 💦 could be infiltrated and sold. Next, it was envisioned as a open park similar to Meridian Park. Now, we have a park planned for a high rise luxury metropolis with very little green space. As a past ANC Commissioner in Ward 5, it is terrible to take 25 acres and continue to build housing that our low and moderate residents can’t afford. So many millions lost to a project that does not serve our residents. Segregated housing that has been identified by fellow ANC Commissioners. This project should serve our residents, not developers who will become billionaires at the expense of DC taxpayers. $75 million designated in the budget for McMillan should be used to try to bring the tents down and House our low and
our residents,
