CAN 20K NEW TRIPS BE REAL AT THE NEW MCMILLAN TOWN CENTER?
The developers provided expert testimony for the record that shows 20,000 new vehicle trips will be generated by the Mayor’s McMillan Towncenter proposal — a 2+ million square foot luxury commercial & residential proposal with several 100+ foot tall buildings with 3000 parking garage spaces and 500+ luxury units with absolutely no low income affordable units included despite this being public land being given away for a song to private developers.
Psst: The Evans-Mendelson deal has the city paying $75M public dollars to the developers to take McMillan Park from us.
Finding the Evidence: The McMillan Towncenter Proposal New Traffic Generation

The evidence on the public record by the developer’s traffic expert is quite plain in its presentation.
On Saturday’s alone, the base vehicular trip counts are at 20,000+ trips to and from the site. Clarification: A peak hour is different than the entire day’s vehicular trip calculations.
The 20K vehicular trip count on Saturday’s alone can specifically be found here >> https://app.dcoz.dc.gov/Content/Search/ViewCaseReport.aspx?case_id=13-14

This fact that 20,000 new vehicle trips will be generated by the McMillan Town Center proposal went unrefuted before the Zoning Commission and the highest Court in the District, the DC Court of Appeals.
That is, not one city official, not one taxpayer-funded attorney, not any Mayor or Councilmember has ever refuted this expert traffic figure which goes along with such a high-density downtown sized project with 3,000 parking garage spaces in the middle of a residential community that is already choking with traffic and more than a mile from a Metro.
